About
Raised in Youngstown, Ohio since 1989, Art West was born with a talent and great ear for music. His passion for Rap music began at an early age listening to the likes of Big Daddy Kane and Slick Rick. He began rapping after a friend heard his work at a poetry jam in 2007. Since picking up the pen seriously in 2009, Y-Rap has released Two Albums (The Midwest Truth [10'], and The Midwest Wonder LP [10']) An EP (Arthur: The EP [11']) 5 beat tapes (Reveal Yourself Series [11']) and Two Month-Long Internet specials (Weekday Madness in 2009 and Weekday Mania in 2011). This was achieved without the promotion or the know-how of even an independent Artist, and Y-Rap is proud to say that he is self-taught with programs such as FL Studio, Logic Pro, Garageband, and Pro Tools. He recently finished a stint on the Youngstown State University live show Homework Express; where he served as On-Air talent, crew member and line-producer. In Winter of 2012 'Y' released his 3rd Album entitled "SilverLining" and mixtape #CLOUDDRIVE. The Future is bright and horizons deep for this young entertainer who is truly only beginning in his journey.
