    Emika says......
The Generate Rework of 3 Hours is like a little peaceful worm and it wiggled it's way in through my ear to my heart.
It's very inventive and it destroys the brutality of my original and creates light and hope. By the end of listening to this version I am in a new mood and have been given some fresh energy. This is the sign of great music for me....to give your audience some special energy they didn't have before they listened to your music.

Well at least a Dubstep track wasn't chosen. LOL. WTG Generate. Experimental yet worthy of a listen or two.

      @Avenskware:
Really, you've been studying, reading, listening and writing and publishing..!
      ** I did.
I'm happy you learnt to write and to read, nevertheless, obvioulsy it's not enough, hahaha.
**What you mean ? Not enough for what ?
      Michel Foucault.
** Name dropping for the win...
please wake-up, stop listening to dreamy music.
** Do I know you ? Do you know me ?
You say I still got things to learn about Music, certainly not from you, thank you.
** Where do you see an offer from me to teach you anything ?
      Heidegger
** Another name dropping for the win...
      You are not agree
** I "am" not agree with this sentence.
Then just explain your point instead of acting like if you got something to say.
      ** I did.

Just use private mail if you need to continue arguing. And drop your book's title so i can read it.

Of course society IS EXACTLY politics, and of course music is political because music spreads in the society, please wake-up, stop listening to dreamy music.
You don't like when I quote high-thinker, it's funny, then I quote one more for you, Michel Foucault. "modern man is an animal whose politics places his existence as a living being in question".

You say I still got things to learn about Music, certainly not from you, thank you. My pretentious double-album will be strong enough, don't worry.
As Heidegger has pointed out, there is no authoritative arguments in philosophy. I've made a criticism about this "rework/for-drowsy-citizens" I stick with it. You are not agree or you feel attacked? Then just explain your point instead of acting like if you got something to say.
I don't care the choice of Emika, I'm not criticising Emika, dude. I'm criticising this track for what it is AND for what it is linked to politically.

@Avenskware: Glad to hear you did it on purpose, you still got a few things to learn then... I already knew the lyrics of the song so the pitched voice does not really bother me.

Now "this" in my previous comment was referring to "Emika choosing Generate's rework to be the winner" ! Where did i write that music had nothing to do with society (which isn't exactly "politics", is it ?) ?
I'm wondering why you always need to display that simplistic opinion about Nietzsche, Spinoza and whoever to try to make your points... You're just hiding behind "high-thinkers" and i'm sure you know this is called "authoritative argument". I've been studying, reading, listening and writing and publishing couple - three things too, you'd be surprised, but i don't feel like i'm popping my CV here, what's the point ?

But you are RIGHT on the internet. :)

      @fxtion: Two points there

1 - Concerning my chorus, yes I'm sure. I'm glad it's not radio-friendly enough to your ears, or too violent/agressive for someone who like to sleep. I've done this exactly in this way.
This is called affect, yes, thank-you Spinoza.
Now, you, are talking about structures and respect to Emika's version right? Just "pitch" the vox my friend, we don't understand anymore some of the words she is breathing. Hahaha, that is respect?

2- You "believe" Music "has nothing to do with society".
Me, I've got nothing to do with -beliefs-, I dance with -knowledge- and knowledge is the opposite of naivety, sorry, Art is political and It has always been. It's all about affects (in terms of sounds) and discourses (say, lyrics) that speak about the era we live in. And I won't recall Nietzsche or Deleuze, who are the very few high-thinkers that have been writting seriously about -what is- Music to explain you that, I just criticise because I'm able to do it.
I'm not saying this track is noise, I say something deeper.

      Kind Regards

+ I forget : Here is (after mine obviously :D) my winning track : Kobosil <= Here music just go forward, don't care about anything smooth, anything, beautifull, anything peacefull. That smash everything on the road with no pity. We are the only light in that track, by trying to survive in it, this track is agressiv and we have to evolute to resist to this. = This track can makes us stronger. THIS, is Music.

Well.. I've listened this track many times, searching for "history told by the song", for "vital impulse", and i find nothing of that. Then i agree with Emika and Avenskware for these things : Yup, there is light in that song (From Emika), and Yup, i agree with all the post from Avenskware. Because systems needs to keep us quiet, to keep us under light everytime.. There is a society link. So this track just makes me remembering to myself :
"Music is the art of night and darkness" <= where the light shouldn't rest in peace but have to be like explosions in this. I don't want smooth, quiet, peacefull, sleepy life.
      Do you ?

@Avenskware: At least, the "elevator-music track" is in the right key all along (have you checked yours ? That chorus, are you sure ?)... And when it's not, the source track is pitched to fit the instrumental parts. That's what is great too ! Generate's rework could be tagged as "easy-listening" since it's neither aggressive nor violent but to me it is structured, varied - one could hide lack of talent behind a whole genre - and full of unexpected musical tricks and evolving sounds, without mentioning respect showed to Emika's original song.
I dont believe this has anything to do with society...

    • Avenskware
      Avenskware on April 28, 2012 11:17

And the winner is.. an elevator music-track.
The slow-death way of life the society is promoting is shining there.
This track is saying "Keep being quiet, everything is gonna be fine, just try to sleep".
I say, no, thanks. The world is changing and I don't wanna sleep.

This is Music for drowsy citizens. Criticism is good.
