Polovtsian Dances opened the third act of Borodin’s play Prince Igor. It is the most popular piece in the play. Prince Igor was rendered incomplete when Borodin died in 1887, but was later completed by Alexander Glazunov and Nikolay Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov.
