'Mistakes'

Written right at the beginning of this year

I couldn't hide my feelings that night
So I did what anyone would do
I gave myself the right to let the wind carry me through
Until the morning light
When I woke up in that bed with you
Us still holding on tight
You couldn't stay even if I'd asked you to

So I'm led to believe again, because of what I write about,
That you've heard one of them, which left you with more than some doubt
But when I thought I lost you, I asked your friends if they knew your whereabouts
I knew that I had to, don't ask me how

I'll always make mistakes

That's where you find the stuff, that keeps you from giving up

Don't think I've ever been that cold, whilst trying to get to sleep before
And that's not anybody's fault, you did your best to keep me warm
When you kissed me I was sold, not at any point was I unsure
That I wanted you to hold, and that I wanted something more

I don't want you to think that I was done with you that day
Because it took all of my strength to do that and to walk away
And I've got myself convinced that by the time you're back you won't know what you should say

And I know that you'd be gone, but I think that I could handle that
Because when something feels this strong, you can't give up straight off the bat
And I don't think you could do me wrong
I knew it when you showed me that tattoo on your back

They say that it happens from time to time
Well, I've found it, you're one of a kind
The whole world stopped at midnight
Can I say it felt like I was flying?
