TAKING NOTES - PLAYING IN THE COLD

    TAKING NOTES - GENESIS

From the Taking Notes* collection, Turtles & Whales was named by my then 5 year old daughter. The idea behind the music of Taking Notes is to allow for open interpretation, inspiration, and ideas. So, after listening to the song a few times, I asked her what it should be named. Enter: Turtles & Whales. I encourage all listeners to focus on what they see in their minds and hearts when they listen to the music and music in general. In this, music is personalized and unique from listener to listener. Taking Notes lends itself to a raw interpretation as it takes classical music and all that it implies, and reconstructs it's presentation into something that is and/or isn't arguably classical.

*Taking Notes is a 9 song collection of classical music based

compositions composed using only turntables and a drum machine.

Organic in inspiration, electronic in execution.  Apart from scratching

and programming, there are no 'traditionally' played parts.
