Started 1996 first as a sideproject of Steiners industrial outfit Notstandskomitee, it quickly get a life on its own. Like Steiners earlier electronic ventures in the 80s, its more experimental and closly connected to the visual arts. The main feature of this electroacoustic music that its done only with software instead of hardware synthesizers. Besides custom applications he uses Max/MSP, pd and csound. Concerts where regular given, for example in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, UK, Cuba, Thailand, Spain, Italy, Norway and USA so far. Besides this and his other musical projects Malte Steiner do media-art, soundtracks and -design for movies and videogames,lectures and workshops, alternating under the brand Elektronengehirn or his actual name.
