About
Electrolight is the collaboration of Chris DiPietro & Steve Diffenderfer.
We started working together as middle school students in 1981, silkscreening t-shirts to sell at local hardcore punk shows, slashing speaker cones to find that elusive guitar distortion well known by The Kinks after hearing them play at the Philadelphia Spectrum, making trips to Zipperhead and listening to everything we could get our hands on. Chris was an early pioneer of cassette mailing lists. He had underground tapes pouring in from across the country.
We attended art schools in Philadelphia & NYC. We played in bands and hosted college radio programs with live studio jams.
We started jamming again in 2009 thanks to the internet and SoundCloud.
In October 2010 we released our first official EP. Electrolight "Riptide".
We continue to record, mix & master using Sony Acid Pro, Propellerhead Reason, Cubase & IK Multimedia T-RackS and gear from Fender, Ibanez, Marshall, Mesa Boogie and Electro-Harmonix. Our Electrolight project is informed from the worlds of guitar driven Alternative Rock, Surf & Electronica.
