Since the early 80's Joe Cancino (El Mixador AKA DJ Grover) has had music in his life. It all started when Joe would accompany his grandmother and grandfather to the salsa club they managed in Pico Rivera, California. It was at this time that Joe was into the break-dance scene and was influenced by the sounds of Kraftwerk, Africa Bambatta and the Soul Sonic Force and other early electro artists.
Fast-forward to the year 1992 when Joe decided to attend a "Rave" event called Circa 92' in Los Angeles. This was the fire that lit a fuse in Joe's life that would lead him to a love with Techno. I use the word "Techno" because back then everything was considered Techno.
As early as 1995 Joe has been producing original tracks and remixes for his own lables Abyss Records & Infrared Recordings and other labels like Cactus Records, Entoptic Records &
Tighty Whitey. Worth mentioning are the collaboration works that Joe has done with other artists such as Bulldog Allstars, DJ Speedy, DJ Huggie, Donald Glaude, The Hot Rollers, Ponyhomie, and Roxanne Morganstern of Electric Skychurch.
El Mixador continues to push boundaries with his new setup incorporating Abelton Live to create new remixes and mash-ups on the fly. No matter what you have seen in the past, this will change the way you hear club music forever! "Genres are only barriers put up by the industry". Known for spinning mostly Trance, Techno, Electro, & Breaks, these days you never know what he might lay down.
