About
Forget Mel&Kim! Here are Ed&Kim! 15 years ago this duo started to abuse the decks with a very electic taste in music. They play different genres and styles, but you know directly when Ed&Kim hit the decks.
They were the first to introduce nu-skool breakbeat in Belgium. In their sets they combine this sound with other dancegenres like electro, house, old-skool acid, new wave, dubbed-out disco, rock, funked-up beats, breakbeats, ... everything goes! They never stick to one sound an always suprise you with a forgotten classic now&then. Only three words rule their musical taste: originality, attitude and quality.
Their bodyslammin’ dj-style conquered festivals, events and clubs in Belgium and the Netherlands such as Pukkelpop, Beach Rock, Dour, I Love Techno, City Parade, Groovecity, Body To Body, 10 Days Off, Fuse, Culture Club, Café Capital, Decadance, H20, Petrol, Silo, Café D’Anvers,...Residencies at clubs like Culture Club, Club Geluk and Fill Collins gave them more experience in working and pleasing crowds. Later on residencies followed at parties or clubs like Culture Club (Ghent), Eazy Fuck (Café D’Anvers/Silo), Klank (Charleroi), Cocadisco (Sint-Truiden), At The Villa Vintage (H20/Pecq) and their own Breakdown (Muziekodroom/Hasselt) & Smile (Silo) parties
Eight years ago they released a mixcd on the mighty R&S label called Straight From Vinyl 2’!! The first Straight From Vinyl came from Mo&Benoeli, now known as The Glimmers. Benoeli contacted them to make the second one...they made a mix of midtempo funkbreaks, dubbed-out house, electro and breakbeats. They included tracks from artists like Nightmares On Wax, Chicken Lips, Erot, Jesper Dählback, Matthew B and Ils.
For 10 years going they abuse the radio-airwaves on Studio Brussel. First they did a radioshow called Superfly with all funky, jazzy&soulful dancemusic. Then the danceshow Switch came, from the beginning they did the music-programmation for the first 2 hours of the show: all popular dance-music (from electro to house to techno to breakbeats and everything in between). 5 years later they had their own breakbeat-show, once a month.
In 2004 Kim also started working as the assistent of producer Jan Van Biesen, bringing in new ideas for the show and doing the production and coördination of Switch. Now Ed&Kim have their own show in Switch, every Saturday from 20u-21.30u, covering all dance-music. Breakbeats, electro-house, electro-techno, electro-pop, broken beats, italo-disco, house, acid, punkfunk, electronica and minimal.
At the moment Ed&Kim are residents at the Eazy Fuck-parties in Silo/Leuven, Cocadisco-parties/Sint-Truiden, Temposphere/Leuven & their own Breakdown parties at Muziekodroom/Hasselt & Smile at Silo/Leuven.
Since 2004 the succesful Breakdown parties at Muziek-o-Droom/Hasselt, started a real scene in Limburg with electro, minimal, breakbeats, d&b, jungle, ...
For these parties they invited dj’s like Boys Noize, Diplo, Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig, Feadz, Boris Dlugosh, Dj Hyper, Smos&Baby Bee, Headman/Manhead, Duke Dumont, Dirt Crew, Idjut Boys, Freeform Five, Glimmers, Cj Bolland, Shy Fx, Boys Noize, Kiki, Cajuan, Brodinski, The Subs, Guy J, Boy 8 Bit, The Subs, Les Petits Pilous, ...
Since 2007 they started organising the Smile parties at Silo. With the first edition in october with Proxy live, Dr.Lektroluv, Trevor Loveys, Sound Of Stereo, Common Phase and Levels it started with a big bang. Expect more Smile parties this year.
They played gigs together with Adam Freeland, The Plump Dj’s, Dj Hyper, Chicken Lips, FC Kahuna, Ladytron, Dj Food, Idjut Boys, Mr.C, Carl Graig, Freddy Fresh, Ellen Allien, Layo&Bushwacka, Freeform Five, Headman, 2 Many DJ’s, The Glimmers, Tiga, Erol Alkan, Fila Brazillia, Death In Vegas, Millionaire, Vive La Fete, Jamie Lidell, Tomas Anderson, Sven Van Hees, Riton, Mylo, Cj Bolland, The Prodigy, Housemeister, Bloody Beetroots, Surkin, Jesse Rose, Tiga, Modeselektor, Boys Noize, Justice, … to name but a few.
What the future brings i still future-music, but the unstoppable enthousiasm from this duo will undoubtly lead to new adventures and challenges...
