@The Smokable: It's an acoustic guitar fed through a granular synthesis patch with a bit of reverb and a reverse delay.....

Pre Hebrides Patch Test at 1.47
    on May 17, 2011 15:45

@leafcutterjohn: Hi John, thanks so much for your positive feedback, great compliment. The patch is pretty simple, it's just buffering incoming audio and then playing back fragments of the buffer at harmonic intervals of the original pitch. The specific intervals are governed by which tuning system you select (just intonation, equal temperament, Pythagorean etc.) There's also some ring modulation applied to some sounds to get the high frequency content. The rest is just a stereo delay whose delay time is set by a tap tempo. A long way to go with the patch yet, glad you like the results so far. Best, Ed

@Edward Stumpp: Hi Edward, best bet for determining frequency content within Max is ~fiddle. It's a free object and with a bit of playing around you should be able to get it to work for you. Not sure what it is like at handling double bass though.....

Wow. I've not heard steel drums in a jazz song before. Fantastic juxtaposition of the inherent mid frequencies with the highs of the symbols.
