    @s.e.t.h.: my complete and total ignorance about microphones :3 I just used what I have. Haha. But I did get the sense that the 57 would be better for the low end and the omni for capturing the detail of the piano and the room. I like the intimacy of it :)

    @s.e.t.h.: it's the felt between the hammers and the strings. On the higher notes, the felt tends to disperse the focal point of attack across multiple notes, adding a bit of discordant shimmer. I dig it personally :)

    @Aurawake: thanks! I've been messing with Synplant. You can get each of the 12 notes to make a slightly different, but genetically related sound. It's a bizarre synth in the best way possible.
