souncloud massive, i know there are still many things to re-do on this beat, still, i uploaded it to have some feedback and ideas.
-
@dvorkru: make me think of a RJD2 songs. an idea could be to play with the beat on the second part (have some breaks) + maybe a few scratches. I let you judge of the situation, I have no doubt you'll find the best !

Dope track. Nice transitions, aesthetically pleasing horns and synths. Drums are on point perfect amount of bump.

Lately i havent finished anything completely..im pretty sick of messing around with drafts that i have listened to too many times with the purpuose of getting something properly done...so wtf... what do you think about it??- Jones Fo Sho - Supersnare Attack (rare unfinished thing) Artwork

It has a great feel, although it has alot of minimalistic qualities that come in and out. I think the track would benefit from some synths and a lead to wrap the other parts together. Great job!!
-
@JonesJones: interesting... ill keep that in mind .

i was working on the sound of a particular snare... just a single snare... after that i added a trumpet and a kick, and without having much of an idea of where this was going i started doing a new beat. then i took a bunch of voices and instruments, perhaps too many... well, anyways, this is it..... - Jones Fo Sho - Lang Artwork

Really liking the beat. Very stony in its own way. Can't say i'm thrilled w/ the Bass but it sounds like a place holder really. Give it some less square wave sound with some filters and make it hit like bricks. I can also imagine some sort of arpegiated lead - something that might sound like a harp or dulcimer but with an electronic feed to it. Hope that helps. Thanks for posting.

Love this part! lots of spaces, cant really tell when its going to hit you again. Funky part
-
@Sixfingerz: space is really interesting in slow electronic songs, i´m very interested in those songs whose drums seem to fill the whole spectrum while leaving some space to breathe. thanx for your comment.
- Sixfingerz on October 13, 2009 15:25
@dvorkru: I just love the good usage of space !

Well, you don't get tempo changes like that often in this style of music, so I applaud that effort for sure. Break the mold. But then again it slows back down and would be painful to mix.
-
@djsAro: perhaps i shouldnt slow back that part, and keep it wiht the same beat but at the same tempo.

Really fuckin slow, in the mood of some dubstep ive been listening to recently. Don't expect dubstep, nor hip hop. Just slow shit, Any comments would be really appreciated. I´m looking for ways to finish this off. Nelly Uploaded by dvorkru Start following Send a message on August 27, 2009 17:31

this transition is well done. £It's certainly not as crappy as you say :p It has an experimental feel to it.
-
@Sixfingerz: experimental?? you dont know the sample source do you?? nothing experimental in here...

yeah the small use of a pad sound can work wonders for the "climax" of this beat. i do like the strings used. but closer to the end it kinda leave you wanting more although i think an emcee can fill that void alot!

I like the track over all. Good instrumentation and use of melody. Some harmonies would help. Mostly, I'd suggest you make it hit harder. Bring up the umph a bit...low end?
-
@djsAro: thank you. yeah, thats a good idea. when i worked on the bass i only added a single channel compossed of mainly subs, perhaps ill throw in some synth lowend harmonies to round out the mix a lil bit. thanx for the commen
-
Ya, and maybe add some filtering to that violin line. It gets a bit static.

sample: ELO - STW. feel free to comment. EDIT: Version 2 uploaded, with some improvements, a moody bridge and a zappa rant in the end. EDIT: Version 3 uploaded, the over amped intro corrected, also added a drum break in the bridge. - Jones Fo Sho - Fonk ess Artwork

i like the as well never thought about sampling these cats. i would find a way to make that guiatr sound dirtier. right now it's kinda tooo clean. but an all around good track, shyt my sons dancing to it right now! lol
-
@dirtykics: interesting, but i wouldnt put any distortion on the guitar. perhaps some muddiness... yeah, it would fit.

a beat i made over a year ago. it samples RHCP. funky, with a strong bassline. if i would do this beat today i'd probably give it a different feel, but it still sounds nice to me. comments are welcome! - Jones Fo Sho - Pass the J Artwork

-
@dirtykics: yeah, i've got a new version that i'll upload soon w/ some echoey vocals and more ambient instruments. perhaps needs moresamples around to eke it sound complete, fullstacc
