Isn't it great, having the ability to invite one of your favorite artists, every month? Next up: Château Flight, the collaboration between Parisian dj's and producers Gilb'R and I:Cube. Originally formed in 1997 to remix Pierre Henry, the pair started with an open agenda, but sticked together ever since. After two classic albums, a soundtrack for a 1915 silent film about vampires, and several stunning maxi's, the two are now amongst the most respected producers around. And because they take their time for every release and always (alright, except for the amazing Baroque EP on Innervisions) put it out on Gilb'R's own imprint Versatile, they have that certain quality control every producer dreams of.

The two are a ragbag of different influences and styles, Gilb'R is a hip-hop-loving ex-radio jock who even became known for spinning drum'n'bass during the nineties, while I:Cube’s debut single 'Disco Cubizm' propelled him into the premier league of French house producers when he was just a teenage schoolboy. They consider Château Flight as a musical playground where they get to mix their opposite tastes and styles. "Château Flight is a pure playground project, a field where neither of us has been before," says Gilb'R. "It gives us the freedom to try any idea or technical process."

But also as dj's Gilb'R and I:Cube certainly earned their stripes. When the guys step behind the mixer you never know what kind of music to expect, except that it's great. Dropping underground techno with eighties italo, old school hip-hop with psychedelic rock and early electro with forgotten disco tracks.
