A song written by Kazufumi Miyazawa (of the band The Boom) about Okinawa.
Recorded for the "Occupation Preoccupation" project.(http://www.occupationpreoccupation.org)
Although this recording was intended to benefit groups engaged in nonviolent opposition to the U.S. Military bases in Okinawa, for the moment, all proceeds will be going to Mercy Corps for earthquake / tsunami / nuclear disaster aid.
The translation I've used borrows heavily from one used by a singer named Isobel Cooper (& Andrew WK), but with a some changes which I averaged out and selected from a couple more literal versions.
lyrics
Deigo - The Flowers That We Held
Distant Winds Will Breathe And Sigh Beneath The Clouds
Deigo - The Flowers That We Lost
Distant Winds Are Calling Up A Distant Storm
I Embrace All My Sorrow Deep Within
Like The Waves Roll Across The Ocean Shore
Uuji Where We First Met
In A Forest Green And Gold
Now I Stand Beneath The Tree
Where I Cried My Last Farewell
Shima Uta My Island Ride The Wind
Together Fly Like Birds
Across The Ocean Waves
Shima Uta My Island Ride The Wind
Deliver All My Tears Across The Ocean Waves
Deigo - The Flowers Gently Sway
Gently Fall As They Ripple In The Breeze
Time Goes By And My Dream Of Happiness
Drifts Away Petals Floating On The Sea
Uuji Where I Would Sing
Close Together With My Friend
Now I Stand Beneath The Tree
Where I Cried My Last Farewell
Shima Uta My Island Ride The Wind
Together Fly Like Birds
Across The Ocean Waves
Shima Uta My Island Ride The Wind
Deliver All My Love Across The Ocean Waves
To the sea, the universe, the god, and to life
Please let the evening calm remain forever.
Shima Uta My Island Ride The Wind
Together Fly Like Birds
Across The Ocean Waves
Shima Uta My Island Ride The Wind
Deliver All My Tears Across The Ocean Waves
