Dræmings started off as an escape from reality, a collection of sounds and melodies intertwined with a low whisper of vocals, deep and resonant. It became a medium between the waking world and the realm of dreams, weaving together visuals and sound in order to create a movement of its own.
“Dræmings is the person that I am when I walk through the sleeping world”, says Kimi Recor. She created the first mixtape (NEVADA) in the middle of the night, hunkered over her computer, singing as quietly as she could, as to not disturb the people around her.
Draemings has grown from being a quiet bedroom project into a force of its own. Each live show is inspired by a different dream, and becomes its own experience.
“A lot of my friends have started to collaborate with me. Dane Dal Bacon, a super talented young artist is building sets for each show, Nico Lopez, of 1228, designs all my costumes, and the boys of the band Weatherhouse play in my backing band and help me produce new music. Dræmings isn’t just my solo project anymore, its a platform for my friends to come together and create magic and have fun. They’re my Dræm Machine”, says Recor, who previously played guitar and sang in Black Flamingo.
“ It’s not just about the music anymore, its about creating this visceral experience for people, about breathing life into these surreal dreams and present them to the waking world.”
