listen to this one song...and you'll have an idea of what my writing is all about...and how it will be presented in my upcoming EP
"Fields of Quiet Soil"...
This is a story about generations of a rural family whose land has been handed down through time as older ones die. It's about what farming mean figuratively. The earth brings life and takes life. “Fields of Quiet soil” are the one constant medium to join the here and the after. The young folks living on this old farm land from time to time test the connection between those who have passed and those who remain. There are hints of happiness and promise and the ultimate hope that those who have gone before us are waiting for us to join them in the hereafter
Right now...I am finishing my first full year...October 2011 to October 2012...of being publicly active in the music community.I started soundcloud in a very limited capacity in March or April...I have met so many people that i have grown very fond of and have had wonderful interactions with...My thanks to all of you out there who put your heart and soul into the music you create <3
I have been writing A LOT over the last several months and recording quite a few first take demos with Nick Olman...On many of the tracks Nick has taken on the role of musician, as he is really a master at that. I play pretty decent I think in my own right...He does a great job on the songs that he records, and I am really thankful for his help...I would be nowhere without him. So my utmost thanks to Nick.
I sing at a lot of local mikes...including Founders, Quinn & Tuite's, Putt Putts, Michigan Beer Cellar...and my thanks to all of the people involved at those places for helping me gain confidence in my performances...they all know who they are.
Right now i have enough songs to make at least a couple good CD's...in my mind anyway...Nick is planning on taking 6-7 of my most ready songs and laying down tracks for those songs hopefully by the end of the year...
These songs are pretty much decided...and it's a matter of Nick dedicating some time to these song...which is the plan. The nice thing is that they will all have fuller more complete sounds and i have had so much time playing these songs that vocals should be pretty good by now on each recorded track...I am really looking forward to having this upcoming EP ready to share...with thorough tracks and practiced vocals and harmonies...and maybe even a few guest invited to add in.
If you like my music please comment on it and I accept favoring if you think it deserves it...not all of any ones music does. But if you like it...i appreciate it. Any constructive ideas or comments are welcome...even a :-) is enough to make me feel good :-)
If you have time...I'd love your support @...www.Reverbnation.com search Doug Roossien...its mostly regional rankings by genre...and having fans...and plays is kind of rewarding for all the work i put into my music
I hope you enjoy my songs as much as I enjoy creating them...They come from the heart...and they really are meant to be shared...so I hope you enjoy them...Please follow me so I can see who is listening and i will have a chance to listen to you
This is a great place to share...I had made many friends...and check me out on Facebook..I don't have a music page...yet...but I love getting to know creative minded people who love music <3
I had previously spent a lot of time…for years…thinking and only sharing my ideas with an empty notepad or a blank cassette…I think there finally came a time in my life that I decided …I needed to open up and share what I felt.As I opened up and shared, I began to see changes in me that I liked…and it became even more important for me to write…and it is really a revelation for me.
Many times when I see an interesting photo…I will make a comment above it…to lock in what I felt about what I saw…I often revisit those images on my wall and inspirations continue to grow. Sometimes a phrase or a life event will trigger…those many years of untapped thought, ideas and images…and they pour out water...
I’ve never been this driven in my life…and I don’t think I will ever go thirsty again <3
thanks for listening
