In 2010 Velz, with the help of long time friends formed Radstack. www.radstack.com - Headed by infinitely qualified and well respected figures in the electronic music scene, with over 20 years combined experience, Tim Velzy (DJ Velz) and Ian Smith. With the help of Hedgehog, Ed Paris and the crew. Radstack began planning the next series of MIDI Fight Club parties. Held Feb 18th and 19th in Tampa and Miami, the MIDI Fight Club is steadily gaining momentum as THE place to see the worlds best controllerists.
At MIDI Fight Club - Tampa and MIDI Fight Club - Miami Velz played alongside the godfather of Controllerism Ean Golden, 5 Time world DMC Champion DJ Craze, 2 Time world DMC Champion DJ Shiftee, Uniform Recordings Founder and President Jake Childs, Charter member of the Overthrow Army and one of the minds behind the blog Gotta Dance Dirty, Troy Kurtz, MIDI Fight Club Founder Hedgehog and various other controllerists from around the world.
Velz began mixing records at house parties and clubs in Kalamazoo. Being so close to Chicago and Detroit gave him a window into both cities underground dance music scenes. As a DJ Velz draws on a wide array of genres to create a one of a kind dance mix. From the late 90’s and most of the 2000’s Velz was a regular in Detroit’s underground electronic music scene both as a DJ and a fan where he experienced all types of electronic music. Velz is currently looking to bring his signature sound to the Florida dance music scene.
Influences include Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins as well as the next generation of Detroit DJ's, Robert Henke(Monolake) and Ean Golden.
From house, and techno to dubstep and moombahton, Velz draws on his wide range of musical knowledge when creating his unique style of digital electronic music. Look forward to upcoming House, Dubstep and Moombahton releases from Velz.
