Tuan Van Nguyen (Djvantuan), a rare cosmopolite; even by standards that are used to measure any of the internationally acclaimed DJ’s around the world. Born in Australia, his journey began at the age of fourteen: he embarks for the United State on his own in searching for a brighter future. His life in America began in, Orange County, California and eventually led him to, New York. The passage from coast to coast allowed him to experience intimately: the evolution on the sound of “Progressive House Music.” Techno, House, and Trance; during this era was relatively unknown to the general public at large and not consider mainstream by the professional music industry.
During this primordial stage in the evolution of “Progressive House,” pioneers, such as: Sasha, John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia, Dave Seaman, Nick Warren, Deep Dish, ,Anthony Pappa, Satoshi Tommie, Jimmy van M, Sean Cusack, Danny Howells, Steve Lawler, Carl Cox, Richtie Hawton, Sven Vath, Sandra Collins, Luis Diaz, Tini-Tun, John Creamer, James Bem & Gabby (Astro Glyde) ,were laboring intensively- shaping and giving birth to a whole new genre of music. The success of this movement was made possible by existence of a small underground venue called, Twilo. To those who have lived the experience: “You Know What I am Talking about.” It was act of providence for Djvantuan to have been touched by “the sound of Twilo.” After five long years of piety “to the Sound” he has discovered his own “rhythm” in the “progression” that liberates him from the shackles of repetition. He will always remember and pay reverence to the giants whose footstep’s he follows. Understanding- the path he took to unravel the mystery surrounding his own rhythm in the “Progression” was arduous and painful in many instances: but, he found his place in the world, which gives meaning to his existence. He inherently believes “the Sound” of music is beautiful, however, the conflict between creativity and conformity, will be the crux that determines whether you are a performer or an artist. Regardless of the challenges ahead, Djvantuan, has demonstrated his “art” by forging “the Sound” of his own “Progression” that is spiritually tempered by creativity along with his passion and devotion to “Progressive house” and the eventual metamorphosis “Electronic Music.”
