About
T-Bird's career began in 1990 at Los Angeles' Fred Segal, known for its celebrity clientele and its ability to forecast West Coast style since 1960. Residencies at Los Angeles acid-jazz staple Internationalist and his own night, Jazzid Up!, soon followed.
Over the years, T-Bird has played high-profile shows at LA hot spots The Room, Star Shoes, Ivar, King King, and Zanzibar in addtion to events such as LACMA's 40th Anniversary and Venice Beach's Carnevale and Abbot Kinney Boulevard's Annual Street Festival.
2005 found him focused on expanding the "T-Bird sound" internationally, with Barcelona quickly becoming his second home. His introduction to Spanish audiences came from gigs at Bongo Lounge (La Paloma,) Oven & Buda Bar in Barcelona and Mandela in Sitges.
Determined to visit "at least one new country" on his next trip he formed relationships with Swiss DJ's and promoters. In January of 2006, T-Bird returned to Bongo Lounge for their pre-Reyes "King of Funk" night playing for over 1500 party people. He also spun for the first time to Swiss crowds in venues Poöc in Biel-Bienne, Grenzwert in Basel and Aaah! Club in Zurich. Returning in the summer, T-Bird played in Sitges' Magma Bar and held residencies at Torre Rosa and Sub Rosa, both in Barcelona. He was also featured at Bongo Lounge and La Caseta del Migdia (at the top of Montjuic.)
Back in the States,T-Bird maintained a 6 year residency with Something Else! @ The Brig. T-Bird has appeared in many major US Markets including:
New York City - Wikkid! (@ Guernica), Halcyon, Opaline, White Rabbit, and Drive-By;
Las Vegas - The Venetian and The Hilton;
San Francisco - Museum of the African Diaspora, 12 Galaxies, Club Cocomo and Oxygen Sushi & Sake Lounge;
Miami - The Leslie Hotel (Winter Music Conference 2002);
San Diego - Beanie's Lounge
T-Bird has played beside DJ greats Mark Rae, Marques Wyatt, Swedish Egil, The Dope Bros. (Professor Angel Dust & De Lippo,) Mark Hill of Artful Dodger and Nickodemus of Turntables on the Hudson.
2006 found him working on remixes & original productions--with music already being utilized by Microsoft and MTV.
In 2007 he finally made the leap "across the pond" and relocated to Barcelona, Spain. Within a month of his move he added several new venues to his list of places played and even had a summer residency at Pacha's newest club --Sweet Pacha in Aiguadolc (Port of Sitges.) New venues for T-Bird included: The ORIGINAL Pacha Sitges, Calipolis Lounge Club, Acqua, Alberto Beach, El Cafe De La Plata & The Room. In addition to new residencies at the previous two venues he also returned to his residency at Torre Rosa.
2008 turned out be quite an eventful year, as well. T-Bird's first gigs in the USA after the move excited him greatly:
"Easy" Hermosa Beach's Dragon Bar Sunday afternoon session
"Tighten Up" Los Angeles' Premier Broken-Beat Night with residents Yosaku (Arision/GAMM) and Chaka (Something Else!)
"Custom Sundaze" DJ Wiseacre & Eduardo Castillo's Summer Pool Party along with Guests DJ Day (MPM/Brownswood) and Yosaku (Arision/GAMM)
"Barack Obama Victory Party" with Mr. Caparro, Scott K, Joplin, Jesse Brooks, and Yosaku among others...
There was also a return to Switzerland, revisiting the venues Poöc in Biel-Bienne, Aaah Club! in Zurich on the day of Streetparade and adding a new venue in Basel--Livingroom Fm at Acqua. T-Bird was commissioned by Straub & Linardatos, a German advertising agency to work on the Revisited 3: An Aural Trip To California mix CD to be given out to their clients as a 2008 Christmas gift. By request, the lion's share of music used was composed by him as well.
In 2009 T-Bird started writing a music blog as an accompaniment to his webradio show "Something Else!," which is webcast courtesy of WTNR Radio.com every Thursday 6pm-10pm (World Time) and also began a DJ Advice column for Sonic Weekly.com. T-Bird also began making inroads to the UK market with gigs at London's Inspiral Lounge. T-Bird expanded his UK locations in 2010 to Brighton (Gemini, Fishbowl and Xuma) and Cambridge (The Happy House.)
2011 is an exciting year with releases from Los Chicos Altos (a partnership with German DJ/Producer Maxey Blaze) on two different labels: Latin Flavored Fire, a compilation on Danny Massure's label Spring Strut from the USA and Oliveto/Samborigeno EP by Farrapo & Yanez on Mikael Palner's Urban World Records out of Denmark. Los Chicos Altos organized a monthly event in January that has been wildly successful, called Urban World Social Club Barcelona. In addition to that, by March T-Bird had already traveled to Switzerland and the USA for DJ gigs and in June represented Los Chicos Altos at Copenhagen's Distortion Festival and in Berlin with La Chusma. The summer wrapped up with sessions in Spain and England. The Spanish gigs were at Cinnamon's Soundgarden, Xiringuitos Lasal, Zero and El Capo. These venues are in Vallpineda, Arenys de Mar, Vilanova and Castelldefels respectively; English dates were at The Fishbowl and Xuma in Brighton and Cruz del Rey in London. The English dates coincided with the release of Los Chicos Altos' Pa'lante EP on Urban World Records which has done well on sales charts for Soul Seduction.com since release.
As you can see, T-Bird is moving onward and upward!
