I buy a lot of vinyl. I can't play some of it when I dj certain clubs because it doesn't really work on the dance floor (it used to back in the day). I created VPS (Vintage Players Sessions) as an outlet for songs I love but can't really rock out in public as much as I'd like. The first VPS was structured more like a radio show and less like a mix. This time around I was going to do the same thing, but about 4 songs in, the batteries on my portable recorder died so I had to start over again.

It was then that I decided to scrap the usual VPS style and record a dj set consisting of 4/4 nuggets. I've been raiding dollar bins and used "disco" sections for years and have amassed a nice collection of disco/post-disco/electro-R&B/80's funk/whatchamacallit... I call this style of music Champagne Disco and Jheri Curl Funk.
