Recorded in Flagstaff Arizona 2007.
Between fire and sky lies a smoky haze-a grey area between forces, a Dialectic between parties.
“The word came to me in a dream,” says Aaron Drucker, frontman of the Flagstaff, Arizona band Dialectic. “When I went to the dictionary that morning, it fell open to the definition.” A discussion and reasoning… by music!
Indicative of their style, the band of three east coast boys and two local Arizonans came together from different roots. In uniting, they’ve created a music for the people: positive, diverse, progressive, and infectiously danceable. Strong drum and bass reggae rhythms, lubricated by sexy funk and slippery jazz, have Dialectic sinking those roots to grow a new tree.
In the spring of 2003, Dialectic joined the Flagstaff music scene at a free benefit show that was warmly received. Now, Dialectic plays to packed houses and is being hailed by fans and critics. Spiritually energized performances fuel by the band's intensity. Politically and socially conscious lyrics delivered over moody beats and a fresh blend of spoken-word rhythms, slinking-wah blues and rebel-roots reggae, distinguish Dialectic as dedicated musicians.
As they continue to grow, the band looks forward to a positive future. Guided by the spirit of music, the Dialectic makes a rhythm they hope will endure beyond the years.
