SofaKing is an experimental learning project by Evan Sheldon that started in 2010 in North Texas. With no music background or experience whatsoever, he set out to learn to mix music with the intention of one day playing music for masses of people. He has since completed this goal and set his sights on much bigger and loftier ideas. This project will continue to grow and learn until it is ready to evolve into something that is educated enough to grow rapidly with no clear end in sight.
Since 2010 SofaKing has been blessed to share lineups with respected international artists such as point.Blank and Trolley Snatcha as well as national artists like Trill Scott Heron, Eshone, Ahab, and Treg. He also makes an annual trip to San Francisco in the summer to play at weekly bass events and underground raves and festivals.
SofaKing has held residency at the legendary Hailey's Club in Denton, Texas as well as playing regularly at other venues and bars around the North Texas bass haven. He spends a great time in solitude, however, mastering his audio/visual/promotional craft. Occasionally he ventures to Dallas or out of state for larger gigs.
SofaKing currently represents the Denton Dance Collective, spreading his love of bass music to all of Denton, MacBroadz Music, a hip-hop collective that plays shows all over Texas, and the Future Screw Crew, who screw all your favorite tunes and post them on the internet.
