Al margen de cualquier moda o corriente musical imperante en el mercado, Smug exprime al máximo las posibilidades de su amplísima colección de vinilos. Concienzudo y metódico, planifica hasta el más mínimo detalle de sus sets que resultan alucinantes viajes musicales en toda regla. Presenta una larga lista de influencias entre las que encontramos destacados productores como por ejemplo Aphex Twin,Autechre,Lfo,Clark,Underground Resistance,Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Reeko,Squarepusher,Derrick May,Jeff Mills,Dave Clarke,British Murder Boys,Drexciya,Oscar Mulero,Kraftwerk,Richie Hawtin.... No se encasilla en ningún estilo concreto y podría decirse que sus sesiones fluctúan por diferentes latitudes sonoras. Desde melódicos tracks de Detroit techno a crudos cortes minimal en la onda de Maurizio, pasando por chirriantes y metálicos sonidos industriales, las sesiones de Smug presentan como nexo común el profundo contenido musical que transmiten.
