This is a remix I made last summer for the Beginner's Guide to Cumbia compilation. Shout out to DJ Bongohead in Boston for getting me on the project.
I used an alias (Señor Sabor) because I was didn't want the label to go snooping around, and find my name, plus tons of my homies names, attached to so many uncleared releases with samples. Uproot Andy used to play this a lot at Que Bajo last summer, but there never was much press or promotion done for the CD, so I don't think many people know about it.
Anyway, I know this probably doesn't sound like the "Moombahton" people know now, but at the time I was really inspired by Dave's "new little genre", so I made this at 105 bpm, and put a 4-on-the-4 floor kick with dem bow snares on top, intending it to be a Moombahton-ish remix. It was released in August of 2010, one year ago. Does that mean this was the 1st official Moombahton remix put out? Who knows, but I didn't tag it as such in the name, so that's my short sightedness I guess.
In honor of my TEXAS run this weekend, with shows in Dallas with Nadastrom, Houston at Bombon, and Austin with Peligrosa crew, i'm gonna let this one out for free for the next week. (Times up, sorry people!) Hope the label doesn't come after me, haha. Or, if you really wanna show some support, you can click the buy now link too, because the whole compilation is really good . Enjoy mi Gente! ~ SABO
