About
Ryan Halifax is without doubt one of the most exciting up and coming Dj's and producers. He has been playing on home territory for years but he is far more than a newcomer. So let me tell you a bit...
With the age of 17 began his Dj career in 1990. He started as a Dj in a club with 2000 people every weekend playing sets not under 6 hours. This were the great late 80ties and early 90ties days. The upcoming acid-house-scene played a big role in his music tastes influencing him to go on and concentrate his skills to only electronic music.
Within a couple of years (1991-1997) he played at many of the best clubs all around germany like The Poison Club, Ratinger Hof, Tribehouse, Ultraschall, UFO D3, Das Boot... Further more he played all of the big parades like Love Parade, Union Move, Street Parade.
At the same time he worked in a big record distribution handeling the import for UK and USA. So he was in some kind of trigger position putting his hands on the freshest vinyls from week to week. In the same distribution he worked side by side with Andry Nalin who took care of the import department for Belgium and Netherlands.
His growing popularity and so his growing label "Superfly Records" needed his full attention and forced him to leave the distribution. But due to many appearences Andry needed somebody to run the backoffice labelactivities. Beeing asked to take the job Ryan left the distribution in 1995 and changed to Superfly Records (Moguai, Phil Fuldner).
In 1996 he joined a project called "area code" together with D-Nox ,Noah While, and Sebastian Bach. The goal behind the project was to play with 4 decks and 2 Djs simutaniously for a whole night. The radiostation "Evosonic Radio" liked the idea and the sound and supported it with a own radioshow. Until the end of 1999 you could catch him on a weekly 4 hour Friday night show called "area code" followed by the show of Chris Liebing. Germanys evosonic radio, witch has been transmitted all over Europe by Astra Satellite, was Germanys only choice for non stop electronic music.
On top of a growing Djing schedule Ryan has also been busy with productions and remixes. His Djing has taken him all over Europe as well as to Russia or Japan. The mixes demonstrates the versatility and vision of Ryan Halifax both as a Dj and a lover of dance music, venturing from the sexy, dirty funk of the house scene through to the tougher, darker scapes of techno.
