DJ Ros (Rosalio Garcia) is a name that you may not be familiar with, but now that you are reading this it’s a name you will never forget. Ros first took an interest in music at a young age, at approximately 8 years old. His uncle was a DJ and introduced him to some of the early Chicago house, hip-house and techno music that were currently in production at the time. As he grew older he found himself listening more and more to the mixshows on the radio, specifically Julian “Jumpin’” Perez and Martin “DJ Boogieman” Luna. However, it wasn’t until the year 1999 that he actually became a DJ himself. This was due to the inspiration and encouragement from a DJ named Rick Fabris. Rick was a resident at a Chicago afterhours nightclub where the party didn’t stop until 7am in the morning. It was there where the two became good friends and Ros was able to see up close, from within the DJ booth what a DJ truly does. Having such a passion for music and people he began his career as DJ Ros.
Over the next several years Ros went on mastering his craft and securing residencies at some of Chicago’s most fun and frequented nightclubs. His first residency was at the same afterhours club where he first found his inspiration to become a DJ, Mardi Gras. From there he went on to headline alongside Mix Master "VJ/DJ Hydro" at P.S. Chicago for 5 years before moving onto Tini Martini and Betty’s Blue Star Lounge. Having the ability to work at some of those venues gave him the ability to become very versatile with his nightly programming.
In addition to the residencies he has held, Ros has had countless opportunities and event bookings all over which has led him to some of the success he has today. One of the events in particular was when Ros was asked to headline the official Girls Gone Wild party that was held at Joe’s on Weed Street in Chicago. That event brought together more than 2000 people and helped peak his popularity at the time. From there Ros went on to playing a few festivals and even being part of the longest running “Industry Sundays” promotion in the western suburbs of Chicago, having a 2+ year success rate.
Currently DJ Ros has continued focusing on expanding his music career. You can find a countless amount of podcasts online showcasing his mixes. He has also done mixes for a few different radio programs both online and in broadcast form. Aside from his mixes he has been putting more focus working in his studio on original productions and remixes for other artists. In fact local Chicago artist Chessa just released her new track called “Speakers Bang” which featured the top remix by DJ Ros. His current project which is due to be released sometime in 2013 is called “The Ratchet House Anthem.” That track will feature a few different remixes, one of them by friend and production partner Rick Fabris and is expected to be a huge club banger. Ros also has a few affiliates; he is part of the Chicago Mix Masters Inc., and a member of the form2dj’s. Both are well respected groups with a large fan base.
Throughout the years Ros has worked very hard to master his craft and earn peoples respect by staying true to what he loves, and making no compromise. He plans on accomplishing some big things over the next few years so get ready to be part of…the DJ Ros experience!
