George Pizzey AKA Ratzi is an up and coming DJ, Producer and Mashup Artist from the South Coast of the UK.
After buying his first pair of turntables back in 2004, Ratzi's passion for mixing and blending different genres together grew more and more, earning him his first public set at the young age of 17 in a Berkshire based club called Cuba. After blowing the crowd away during the set, he was then given the opportunity to run his own House night; 'Stupidisco' which turned out to be one of the most successful nights the club has ever seen.
In 2008, Ratzi jetted off to DJ a season in Corfu, starting off as resident in a club north of the Island and finishing off playing 3 venues down in Kavos. This experience allowed Ratzi to meet and befriend international DJs such as The Ratpack, Kate Lawler, Fran Cosgrove, DJ Luck and MC Neat, and the So Solid Twins. Ratzi was also selected to DJ at the Dave Pearce afterparty on the beach.
After his experiences in Corfu, Ratzi's musical tastes varied and his mixing during sets became more vast and sporadic. Jaguar Skills and DJ Yoda soared straight to the top of his musical influences, and this really shows in his style of mashup mixing today.
After being accepted onto the Digital Music course at Southampton Solent University, Ratzi's passion for producing original tunes, re edits and mashups became apparent. His Dj sets on the South Coast were recognised, and he now holds multiple residencies at some of the biggest nights down South, including 'Bang Bang' at Junk and 'Warehouse' at Audio. Through these venues, Ratzi has played alongside and supported some of the biggest artists in the UK such as Annie Mac, Plump DJs, Foamo, DJ Yoda, The Cut Up Boys, Redlight, Boy 8bit, Marco del Horno, Evil Nine, Drop the Lime, A1 Bassline, DJ Zinc and Semtex but to name a few.
Also in 2008, Ratzi teamed up with best friend and fellow DJ, Scrivtech, to form the Fun House Twins, a b2b combination. House Music specialists, they will play anything from minimal to fidget, techno to balkan and even some weird and wacky mashups that you may have never heard before.
In Summer 2010, the Fun House Twins were invited to Ibiza to DJ at some of the best clubs and bars on the isle, such as Ibiza Rocks, Linekers, Plastik and Es Vive. After their return to the UK, the Twins have been booked at Ministry of Sound London, Mango Reading, Keep Off The Grass festival, Curiouser Gathering Festival in Totnes, Beach Break Live 2011, headlining the main room at Ink in Ireland and headlining 'Prohibited House' at Broke in London.
In early 2011, Ratzi launched his new student night 'Bastard Pop' at Audio which has fast become one of Southampton's busiest and most successful nights to date.
With the ability to play on 4 decks, Ratzi's DJ sets are exciting to watch. With vast genres of music all mashed together, he really knows how to keep the crowd on the dance floor, as nobody knows what to expect next!!
As he continues to make his own original productions, re edits and mashups, Ratzi is a name to look out for in the near future!
