This thing took me a few months to complete, although most of those months involved sitting around and waiting for inspiration to strike. I dig the way it turned out, though - it's big, happy, synth-heavy house with a decidedly '80s sound palette - I think it earns its "Retro" stripe. A little reminiscent of Eric Prydz's old style, actually, before he went all techy.
"Rattus" (the genus of rats) refers to the fact that some of the sounds and patterns in here are borrowed from Deadmau5's style. This track also marks my transition from loop enthusiast to synth enthusiast, because I used more damn synths in this one than in any of my previous work - Predator, Operator, Tension, Analog and ZebraCM. (The bass and drums are sampled, though.)
Props go to Nicolas Vallée, whose track "New New York" was sampled for this.
