DJ Nick Nino, formerly known as DJ Lil Kid, has been mixing professionally since 2005. He started off opening up for his older brother, DJ Nurotic, at Major Hall, the hottest high school party in Chicago at the time. A few months after he started mixing at club events he began releasing mix cds. His first mix CD was entitled “The Youngest in Charge”, in which he also collaborated with DJ Nurotic. The success from this CD helped him gain the attention of other club promoters which led to additional bookings.
DJ Nick Nino decided to change his stage name to help expand his bookings. He had taken notice that some 21 and older venues were hesitant on booking someone named DJ Lil Kid. He was able to brand his new name with mixes and through social media which resulted in being able to mix at a wider range of venues throughout Chicago. His success did not stem mainly from changing his name but because of his well rounded knowledge of music. He does not limit himself to any one genre. He is best known for Hip-Hop and House, but can also play dancehall, rock, disco, latin, etc.
In 2009, Nick Nino ventured into the world of production. He created several remixes, varying in style from juke to bmore to electro. Not satisfied with just mixing at clubs and producing, he started up his own online radio show in 2010 on 1inamillionxm.com. He continued his show for over a year which also offered free downloads of all of his mixes on his mixcloud page.
Today, Nick Nino mixes every weekend in and around the Chicagoland area. He has also been able to mix in other markets, including Washington, D.C., Grand Rapids, MI and New York City, to name a few. He continues to release free mixes for his fans, which can be downloaded directly off of his soundcloud page. He has accomplished a lot over the years but still strives for more as he is always looking for ways to improve his craft.
