About
Having DJed for over 7 years, Mark Major has gone through many genres. With origins in trance, Mark’s style has eventually become an eclectic mix of melodic, deep, dark and driving progressive and tech sounds, spanning many musical influences. Going on the theory that a DJ set should be one that can be enjoyed by all, both new to the electronic genre or otherwise, Mark has developed a knack for pleasing crowds of various degrees.
Referencing different ends of the spectrum for music, Mark has taken inspiration from artists like James Harcourt, Shawn Mitiska, Max Graham, Sasha and Christian Sol to achieve an extensive collection of tunes to cater for different audiences, but also to introduce them to new sounds as well.
With the helpful guidance and support of many local DJs and friends, Mark has been able to expand further with his sets in order to keep punters coming back for more.

Mark’s first appearance behind the decks began in 2003, when he was offered to play with one of Melbourne’s premier progressive and trance events, ‘UNIFY’. Since then, he has played at many events and clubs around Melbourne, and has grown as the city’s club scene has evolved.
Things really began to kick off when in 2007, Mark was given an opportunity to play as a rotating guest on KissFM’s ‘The Walk of Shame’, and as a resident at the monthly-held ‘Flipside’ (which later hosted a strong New Years Eve 2009 party at Platform 3).
Throughout 2008 and 2009, Mark has propelled himself forward, playing at a variety of parties around Melbourne. He recently became a permanent addition to the infamous ‘Intermission’ DJ roster (now partnered with Melbourne’s biggest progressive and tech event, ‘Darkbeat’), and has supported many major local and international acts such as Nick Warren (UK), Satoshi Tomiie (Japan), Chris Fortier (UK), SOS (UK), Jamie Stevens (AUS) and Jaytech (AUS).
One of Mark’s yearly mix releases, ‘Summer Lust 2008’, was voted one of the best progressive / tech-house mixes by users of the popular ‘djforums.com’ and has seen a small selection of podcasts being released as well.
Mark’s contribution to ‘Flipside’ has led to its’ second year at Platform 3, providing a great atmosphere to complete anyone’s weekend, as well as a live weekly internet video feed hosted by co-resident DJ and founder, Ed Muggles.
It is Mark’s seamless skill at blending melodic progressive house to deep tech-house that is finally making a mark in the club scene and a name for himself.
