"I started DJin when i was 17. A mate of mine had bought some crappy decks and I was always wanting to be round at his playing on them. When he told me he was selling them I just had to have them, so i borrowed some money and bought them with a mixer for £250! Absolute bargain! I got them home, set them up and started playing. Didnt have a clue what i was doing, just liked listening to the basslines / electro etc..."
"I then started going to Atrium on Saturdays with a few mates, had a few £1.50 Kronenbourgs and just stood infront of the DJ booth watchin the likes of Danny Bond, Simmo, Browny & Ste Haley rockin the crowd each week. Watchin these guys gave me an idea of what I had to do at home, so every sunday was my main day to practise, trying to remember what i had seen the night before."
"After a few months it started to come together and i did my first mix CD. I went to Atrium one Saturday and gave it to Simmo & Browny. From then on I started talking to them both more and more until Simmo offered me a job that would get my foot in the door, and so I began working with a guy called Fish promoting for, and DJin at under 18's events across the country, especially at Evolution (Leeds) & Pulse (Lincoln) It was at these kids nights that developed my confidence infront of large crowds on both decks and the mic. As time went on I entered a couple of local DJ competitions at Atrium & Soulcircus, doing well in both."
"The big turning point really was getting a job behind the bar at Atrium. Because of this i was given the opportunity to warm up for Simmo, Danny Bond & Browny once or twice a month on Saturdays. This gave me lots of confidence and eventually led me to run my own monday night at atrium - Funktionary. The night lasted about 6 weeks, and was a bit hit and miss. sometimes it was rammed, other times it was dead. Thinking back I didnt really have a clue what i was doing haha, but it was a valuable (and expensive) learning curve!"
"Working alongside people at Atrium, I began to work mainly with Simmo. I was a bit strapped for cash at the time, and so he let me do the odd little jobs for him - recording vinyls, flyering nightclubs etc. As time went on I gained his trust more and more, and in May 2007 was offered the job to work alongside him and Danny Bond running their nights, and ultimately, DJing at them. This was an opportunity i couldnt turn down, and so quit working behind the bar at Atrium, and began working full time for them both."
"I now currently run and promote a number of night across Yorkshire, aswell as playing in Ibiza and Tenerife."
"Make sure you keep coming to my gigs, listening to the tunes and keeping the scene alive!"
