Gabriel "Habit" Barrere was born in Canoga Park, CA on June 21st 1989. Being the son of Little Feat guitarist Paul Barrere, Gabriel was raised in a very eclectic musical environment. As he grew up, so did his hunger to participate and create music himself. After a brief stint with trying to play guitar and bass, he set his sights on becoming a DJ. Having acquired his first pair of decks at the mere age of 13, Gabriel became obsessed with scratching and turntablism. Upon hearing Hive's seminal classic "Ultrasonic Sound," he became fascinated with the Drum and Bass genre.

Once he turned 18, Gabe started going to raves and buying records almost full time. His passion and love for the music was nurtured by the legendary Groove Riders record shop where he would often crate dig and hang out. After a few years of collecting and perfecting his art as a DJ, Habit met another up-and-coming LA based producer/DJ, iOh and they started throwing parties with their friends under the alias of "Splat Media." Since then Splat Media have hosted several shows with both local and international talent including Heist, Urban Assault, DLX, Pablo Hassan, and Mustache Riot.

In 2012 we see Habit continuing to grow and expand his take on Drum and Bass music with some forthcoming production work and gigs out across Los Angeles including Timeless, Funktion Wednesdays, and the legendary Respect Thursdays. Habit has shared the stage with the likes of Pendulum, Hive, Heist, L.A.O.S, Urban Assault, and Kryteria amongst others.
