Dj Dynamixx on December 11, 2010 01:22
The original "Dj Dynamixx" from Las Vegas.
36 year old Las Vegas transplant Donovan Santos, otherwise known as DJ Dynamixx has been spinning records since1993. Who would have imagined that little 9 year old Donovan's interest in djing inspired by Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick’s “The Show” would make him the internationally known DJ that he is today!
DJ Dynamixx is Vegas' hardest working DJ with his mix of old school, new school and Electro, Dynamixx makes crowd-motivating music with a shock track thrown in once in awhile to keep people on their toes. One of Las Vegas’ most sought after DJ's, he has performed in some of the hottest nightspots in Vegas. Dynamixx knows how to go with the vibe of the crowd to keep them entertained, feeding off of the crowd's energy, with Dynamixx spinning the tunes you are guaranteed a great time!
Dynamixx began his career as a professional BMX biker and when he was 18 and as soon as he started making money with it he supported his passion for djing by using his weekly paycheck to buy DJ equipment at Record City.
While he was still making his living as a BMX performer, Dynamixx started rocking crowds at house parties and weddings. He also got involved in the Las Vegas record pool where Silvino Lopez and Rory McAllister became his mentors. He also credits Mr. Mixx from 2 Live Crew as the reason he became a DJ. The mixx in his name pays homage to his role model. The Dynamics refers to the different levels of loudness and softness in a piece of music.
In 2000, Dynamixx got serious, swapped biking for music and committed himself to being a full-time DJ and producer. He began performing at Venues across Las Vegas such as Studio 54, House of Blues, Foundation Room, Cathouse, Syn City, Voo Doo Lounge, Venus, C2K, Chrome, and Utopia. He is currently a resident DJ at Dixie’s Dam Bar at Hooters and is a member of the Las Vegas record systems record pool.
In 2002, Dynanixx released his first 12" "The Art of The Medley" on Thomas Crown Records, followed in 2004 by the critically acclaimed EP "Don't Stop Believing in Breakbeats". In 2005 Dynamixx released his first full CD "The Remixes The Album"
He has been featured in numerous major Las Vegas publications as well as gracing the cover of The Las Vegas Quick Guide. He came in 2nd place in the National DJ Battle at Studio 54 sponsored by Promo Only. He also Deejays on the radio, 93.1 FM “The Party” and www.DancePartyRadio.com.
Dynamixx has opened or played for internationally renowned groups such as The Eagles, Earth Wind and Fire, Bruce Willis and Band, Run DMC, Tower of Power, the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis, Purple Reign, Sugar Ray, Britney Spears, Stevie B, Expose, Lisa Lisa, Debbie Deb, Nice and Wild, Sa-Fire, Johnny O, Shannon, BB King, Collective Soul, Boogie Knights, Spazmatics, Love Shack, DJ Scribble & Dave Navaro, and Tommy Lee & Dj Aero
Coming from the old school where DJ’s used two turntables and had to lug around big milk crates filled with records Dynamixx has easily made the transition from 2 turntables to today's new technology. His years of digging through crates of records helped make him the innovative DJ he is today, brilliantly melding the old school in with the new. He has broken it down to a science, with his music neatly organized in different files on his laptop according to genre, gig or specific artist. The art of djing has come a long way and Dynamixx is here to take it to the next level!
