About
Whether it was playing the drums at the age of 12, or trying to produce hip-hop beats at the age of 15, DSTAR has always found that his heart belongs in the music scene. After dabbling in various areas of music, he began DJing, and instantly fell in love. Aspirations of scratching, cutting and mixing records soon came to life, with the dedication and persistence only a budding professional would be capable of.
DSTAR officially began his mission of revitalizing the local club scene in Buffalo when he was 18, by throwing a series of self-booked parties. Quickly developing an eclectic taste and an expert mixing ability, it wasn't long until DSTAR earned the reputation of the most versatile DJ in his city. After a small 3-year stint in New Haven, Connecticut DSTAR returned to Buffalo in late 2010 just in time to claim Artvoice's award for the "Best DJ in Buffalo".
After releasing mixtapes, a podcast series, patented "edits" and remixes, DSTAR finally saw the buzz he deserved, allowing him to take his DJ sets across the country to top class venues. Building a brand through quality music has always been the top priority for DSTAR, so the commitment was made in early 2010 to learn and begin producing music.
Within months tracks were born, taking DSTAR's love of electronic music to another level. His takes on artists such as Lady Gaga, XV, Mike Posner, and Christian Rich of Star Trak records were soon released, and DSTAR shows no intention of slowing down. 2011 saw the release of official remixes for Dev and Linda Perry, and multiple labels immediately signed singles by his disco house alias Solidisco within months of it's birth.
When he's performing, it's impossible to not notice his veteran skills on the decks, with over 7 years of hard-earned experience as a full-time club DJ under his belt. Having shared the stages with DJ AM, Steve Aoki, Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, Pete Wentz of Fallout Boy, Gym Class Heroes, Freeway, and many more, DSTAR effortlessly breaks the barriers between a performer and one who simply plays various music tailored to a specific crowd. The 26-year-old DJ has also received attention from the press; attention in the Washington Post, a feature in Elle Girl Magazine, and coverage from the most massive blogs across the world. An average day for Dstar consists of studio, club and caffeine - and in his words, he's just getting started.
