About

Music has been an integral part of Nick “Double A” Sproul’s life since his early elementary years when he first picked up a pair of drumsticks. Having watched his Father bounce from band to band, simultaneously singing and playing drums, he developed a love for being engulfed in the tremor of hard-hitting drum beats. Rhythm had always been coursing through his hands, and no matter whether in class or at the dinner table, he found it impossible to stop these rhythmic patterns from emerging on any surface in site. At age thirteen he acquired the easy-to-learn Fruity Loops program and discovered that he could sequence and record these patterns that were in his head. Double A would stay up all hours of the night honing his craft and teaching himself the basics of sequencing rhythms and melodies. He also found himself very much interested in the music of his parents and grandparents and soon began sampling and chopping up classic rock and soul. At age fourteen, he joined his high school’s drumline, taught himself to read music, and quickly climbed to the position of drum captain. His promotion to captain of the drumline and his dissatisfaction with their current performance led him to compose hours of drum cadence on his own, which would eventually help grow the line to an undefeated position in both competition and battle. The hundreds of hours put towards coming up with original drum compositions can be easily heard in the beats he still produces. Throughout high school he continued to write cadences, but found a real love in producing Hip Hop instrumentals, which he began selling to local artists in his sophomore year. Double A then began experimenting with other programs and creating remixes and blends to some of his favorite instrumentals and acapellas. This is what led the young producer to understand the beauty behind a clean blend and sparked his interest in DJing. At this point it became obvious to Double A that he needed to start learning what he thought of as the “manual” action to what he had already been emulating digitally. At eighteen he got his first dual CD player rack, amp, and speakers and found something else to dedicate sleepless hours towards. Not long after, he was able to upgrade to his first pair of turntables, a pair of Technic 1210’s. This is when Double A truly began to understand the art of turntablism and the skill involved in controlling a piece of vinyl. Four years later, after having rocked a few shows, going undefeated in a few DJ battles, and dropping a few mixtapes, Double A graduated from Florida State University as a more business-minded DJ and producer. It was in 2013 that he enrolled in Full Sail University as a full-time recording arts student, where he is currently dedicating all hours to the crafts that he loves as a DJ, producer, and remixer. DJ Double A’s dream is to one day be a Grammy-award winning, platinum-selling producer and mix engineer.
