About

Before the advent of the digital DJ and the mp3, Martin Collins aka DJ Deevice began spinning vinyl back in the UK at the legendary Sub Club in Glasgow, Scotland. The Sub Club was known for bringing the most formidable underground talent to Glasgow and DJ Deevice quickly established himself as a resident playing with the likes of SLAM (Soma Records) Derrick May (Transmat) and Darren Emerson (Underworld). Now based in San Francisco, Deevice performs all over the West Coast at night clubs & summer music festivals, such as Michael Franti’s Power to the Peaceful and Outside Lands. In 2009, Deevice created the radio show GridLock and each week spins futuristic beats from around the world, across every genre of electronic music. This award winning radio show has featured international guests which have included Shigeto (Ghostly International), Nickodemus (Turntables on the Hudson), DJ E.A.S.E. aka Nightmares On Wax (Warp) and Thomas Fehlmann (Kompakt/The Orb). GridLock broadcasts live Thursdays 12pm-2pm (Pacific Time) on 87.9FM radiovalencia.fm. When not on radio or behind the turntables, DJ Deevice reviews new electronic releases for Big Up Magazine and is also an A&R talent seeker for Apollo Records, the sister label of influential Belgian imprint R&S Records.
