Audio contains: Plain Patch / Processed Patch / Patch As Used In Track
This is a bass patch I made for my latest track "Pixel Perfect." It doesn't sound like much alone, but most of the magic is in post-processing.
You can download the sample and/or download the NI Massive 1.3.0 patch here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1712106/downloads/Pixel%20Perfect.nmsv
Post processing overview:
- EQ out the lows (I used a separate sub bass in the track)
- Split this signal into two layers
- Layer 1
----- Chorus with quick delay
----- Flanger
- Layer 2
----- Vocoder (49 bands, different band gains and widths drawn to taste)
----- Distortion (Ohmicide, tweaked to taste)
----- Chorus with longer delay than layer 1
----- High pass around 500 Hz
- Combine layers
- Band reject filter (I used WOW filter with nearly-default Rejector preset settings)
- Multiband compressor
- High pass final signal around 30 Hz to reduce mud
- High pass side signal around 200Hz to reduce stereo phasing of the low end
Note that the song sample (as well as processed sample) are gated as well, in addition to the above processing.
