So, when did it all begin? Carl was trying to play the piano before he could walk. He was fortunate to then start lessons at six. This was to set the path for his musical obsession. Carl’s parents bought him his first synthesizer at fourteen and soon Carl was sequencing music on his Atari 1040 computer.
Monthly mix tapes became a platform for Carl to showcase his mixing skills. Luckily, Carl’s first mix-tape generated interest from Life@Bowlers in Manchester. This, at the time was the biggest weekly ‘Rave’ in the country (hosting 4500 people). Fortunately, they invited Carl to play firstly as a guest DJ and then as a resident DJ. From this point, Carl played many other nightclubs also. To name some: Vibealite, GoodTimes, ZubClub, The Astoria, 51st State and The Cricketer all in England. 2001 presented Carl with the opportunity to become a nightly resident DJ at Napa Dreams in Ayia Napa, Cyprus (thanks to good friend and legend DJ Rossi).
On the production side, Carl by now had already released his first track entitled ‘Old Fever’ by Mike E (c1999). From there on, Carl released over twenty ‘Bouncy House’ tracks as CAP on various record labels (Unlicensed Recordings, Nitrate Recordings and Top Hat Recordings were some). Carl also remixed Sol ‘Tell It To My Heart’ and it was his remix that got showcased in live PA’s across the North of England (at 051, Wigan Pier, Maximes and Tokyo Joes etc).
As the music scene has progressed, Carl’s journey has taken him into Funky House and Progressive House. This is where Carl’s current passion lies. Influences are largely Armand Van Helden, Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, all big players!!
Carl has remixed/released with many excellent record labels including Tall House Digital, Zipped Recordings, Sheeva Records, Kick It Recordings, Consistent Records and TRXX (Plasmapool). 2012 presented the opportunity to release a track with Angie Brown entitled 'House Preacher'. This was a massive buzz for Carl as Angie is his favourite vocalist of all time! Carl produced a follow up to this in 2013 entitled "I Love House Music". In 2013, Carl also released a 70's inspired funky house track called 'I Feel Passion' with Ione-Mai this time kindly performing the superb vocals. On a slightly tougher EDM tip Carl released 'Twisted' with the superb Jay Matthews performing the vocals.
There are many great projects lined up for Carl in 2014 as well including some deeper house old skool infused vibes - so watch this space!!
