About
DJ Arico spins Deeps House tracks as his primary source of music but he is not limited to just that. His collection used in his mixing ranges from noise to classical music. A good example of his noise to classic music is one of his greatest creations “Hallucinogenic Audio Tape” which features unintentional harmony and created by improvisation. He spins, Deep House, House, Techno, Downtempo, Hip-Hop, and many many waves of music and electronic realms.
DJ Arico’s (real name Jeffrey Arico) started to DJ at Mercer County Community College (MCCC) radio station. Jeffrey was learning the fundamentals of music as a guitarist and playing CDs and records for MCCC’s radio station. On his radio show for MCCC (which he never named) he played a collection of Drum & Bass, Techno, House, Electro, and anything that caught his ear.
Jeffrey went on to create interesting poly-rhythmic beats with interesting sequencing he adapted from being influenced by the 90’s powerful explosion of Jungle Music or Drum & Bass.
From this point on Jeffrey will tell you his story:
At the end of my high school years I really got into an amazing radio show called Bassquake. My band at the time that was really taking a turn for the worst – everyone except me and one other, wanted to leave and that was the end of the band. So I would turn to the radio and would hear a sound on a radio show called Bassquake – that would give a euphoric feeling similar, if not better than the one I would feel from playing with my band – which at time was called The Wiggs. I told myself that one day I too would have a show on that radio station and I did.
Contacting Extraterrestrial Beings was a show and concept broadcasted out of the basement of Holder Hall in Princeton University on 103.3 FM WPRB. I played my “Hallucinogenic Audio Tape” many tracks that I sequenced and created and mixed and mixed and mixed some more. I feel in love with the communication from viewers that would call in and tell me how amazing a track was to them and how my music would help them through the day.
WPRB was moved to, what is now called, Bloomberg Hall at Princeton University. There my audience went worldwide because of internet radio capability. I had such a deep feeling by connecting to a Princeton Student who was in Africa listing to my radio show and he told how I helped him feel at home. It’s really times like this where you know that you are important to the world and you need to let the world hear you. So, even though I loved WPRB and Princeton like a child, I needed to let it go. WPRB can only take me so far and i need to explore other worlds.
Of course I played at local parties with friends of mine who liked to DJ. We played at some “eating clubs” in Princeton which are basically mansions. I played at psychedelic trance parties in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, PA and NJ. I was a resident DJ for the Club the Buzz in Trenton. And rocked the Moshulu Ship on Delaware Ave in Philadelphia
So please keep your eyes open for my next event because it truly will be an euphoric experience that you’ll never forget.
