I first found the club scene back in 1987 at the tender age of 15. An older mate took me to the Camden palace on a hot summer Friday night. When I first walked through the doors to the club, the pounding 4/4 kick drum smacked me hard in the chest. A sea of dancers, arms pumping the air......The heat in there was immense. It shook me to my core. I was hooked from that moment on and have never looked back.
Music has always been a massive part of my life. I really do start to get twitchy if I go more than 24 hours without music. I started DJing around 1992. I learned the ropes the hard way using vinyl. After taking a break for a few years due to family and career commitments, I started DJing again seriously about 2007 - 08. The transition away from vinyl was a tough. I'd invested so many years perfecting the art, I simply didn't want to let it go. Technology marches on though. Everyone I knew was using CDs. I wasn't about to start afresh, learn on CDs, only for the CDs to become obsolete in a few years. I made the decision to use what was on the cutting edge of technology at the time to try and be ahead of the curve. I started the slow process of learning the Ableton Live software. Ableton is essentially a recording studio in a box. Massively powerful and complex. It blurs the lines between production work and live performance. It was a long process, taking several years to learn. Pioneered by the likes of DJ Sasha & Richie Hawtin (Plastikman). If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me!
I play a variety of house music styles;- Deep, soulful, tribal, tech, funky, progressive and some techno. I'm all about new music. The quest for the latest sounds never ends.
I often play impromptu shows on http://www.housefreaks.co.uk channel 1. Follow me on Facebook for heads ups on these shows and details of club sets :)
