I go by the name of DJ45. I was born in Jamaica, Queens, lived in Southside Hollins. Grew up listening to Kiss and WBLS battling it out every weekend (miss the Juice Crew Allstars). Moved to North Carolina because my father was in the military. Made it back move to Queens every summer to work in the barber shop with my uncle Tyrone (aka BEAR). Actually worked with Freddro Star when he had dreads and was forming the group now known as ONYX. Just loved Hip Hop my hole life. DJ Red Alert, Mister Magic, Marley Marl, Lazy K, Ron G, DJ Buckwild all have have impacted me as a youngster. I got into DJing back in 1988 while in high school dropped off in 1996 but now I'm back in 2012. Technology has changed but the love for the music is still the same. My style of DJing first and foremost is remixing old school Hip Hop beats with newer music. I like to make blends because I grew up with my Ron G tapes and I loved hearing music with a different beat or rhythm. I play more of the House, Club and Dance scene music. I like to here club banggas from a mainstream , R&B, or Hip hop record. I am not a radio DJ, I do mostly private parties, night clubs, and events so I'm mobile. I like to mashup some crazy stuff sometimes so you never know what I'm going to do next.
I also mix music video into some of my sets. I think mixing video helps the crowd enjoy the party even more. I grew up listening to music my entire life and have a true respect for those that create it. I have two young kids so they keep me pretty youthful. They also keep me up on the newest pop culture music. This allows me to play kid parties with the most up to day music in the industry.
