Helping peeps find their Mojo, one beat at a time.

***The short story***

I synchronize rhythmic patterns in a manner that induces movement.

This behaviour has been going on since 1992, mostly in the greater Los Angeles area. I have been asked to perform these acts on a routine basis. I was best known for this at events including What Afterhours, F.A.M.I.L.Y and Insomniac.

My preference is to use rhythmic patterns magnetically inscribed on 12" wax platters, however I also use rhythmic patterns inscribed in a binary format from time to time.

More recently, I have been creating my own rhythmic patterns, which have been released on labels including Cold Busted and Journees Music. Please enjoy the patterns I select as well as those I create.

***The long story***

Mojo Rising is a DJ and producer from southern California with over 20 years of active involvement in the electronic music scene. Primarily focused now on production and remixing, Mojo has releases and remixes out on Cold Busted, Journees Music, Hotbox Music and Shotcallers Music. With several tracks hitting Beatport's Top 100 chart in the Chillout, Funk/R&B, Hip Hop and Reggae/Dub genres as well as Trackitdown's Breaks chart, Mojo is comfortable producing within a variety of genres. Mojo has collaborated with and remixed a number of gifted artists including the Lazy 88s, Mister T, Es-K, DJ Liquid, Bloody Tadi, Liberty Klaud, Blue In Green, TekFreaks and Brian Seed, to name a few.

As a DJ, Mojo's known for his eclectic style and this has translated well in the production arena, with a diverse range of tunes spanning downtempo, drum & bass, breakbeat and various flavors of house. Performing under the moniker Mojo, he spun prolifically throughout the 90s and has held residency at three of Los Angeles' most beloved underground gatherings, What? Afterhours, F.A.M.I.L.Y, and Insomniac (which now organizes the epic EDC festival). Mojo has also been a featured guest at a number of other clubs and massives, including Fresh Produce, Magic Wednesdays, Audiotistic, T.I.M.E. as well as the first two Nocturnal Wonderland events. One of the most memorable events he performed at was Organic '96, which featured a lineup including the Orb, Orbital, Underworld, Meat Beat Manifesto and the Chemical Brothers.

Mojo prides himself on a deep knowledge of music of all flavors and has a diverse range of influences found within and without the electronic music spectrum. Writing music reviews for Network and Lotus magazines was an honor and a privilege; he currently writes articles for the online Igloo Magazine as well.

Taking a hiatus from live mixing back in 2000, Mojo pursued and completed a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Recording Arts and began focusing on music production, which had been a lifelong aspiration. Software development is also of strong interest; a virtual theremin application was successfully developed as his undergraduate project. New and unique musical performance interfaces still intrigues. But for now, the focus is on music. Mojo has begun deejaying live again, accepting bookings on a selective basis... however, continuing to produce and remix music is the main priority. Feel free to reach out about remix/collaboration projects.
