About

London born and Cyprus raised, George Markou realized his love for music and technology from a very early age. Through playing around with DJ and production software, George slowly comprehended that this was something he was good at and enjoyed doing more than anything else. After producing a few beats and DJ mixes, word got around that this kid was actually pretty good. Very soon, George found himself DJ’ing for various school and house parties in his area at the age of just 12 years old.

It wasn’t until a couple of years, later when he was asked to try an opening set at a local club at the time, Indigo. He embraced the opportunity and managed to impress the crowd and the resident DJ, who then offered him a regular spot at the club. That was it. DJ MG was born.

From there on, MG played in numerous clubs around the island, impressing people with his music selection and skills, regardless of his age. In 2006 he entered a DJ competition held in the islands capital, which he went on to win, despite being the youngest competitor.

MG went on to DJ with some of the islands biggest and most successful brands and promoters, including Mix FM, DJ S7S, Mr. Montana, 3FIFTY7 (for which he remains the official DJ to this day) and many others. Through these events, DJ MG performed with a lot of important names of the industry, including: Fatman Scoop, Serani, Crazy Cousinz, Mistajam, DJ Luck & MC Neat, DJ Cameo, Richard Blackwood, SNiPER, Young Guru, Rampage, Skepta, Heartless Crew, and others, in addition to hosting events with Sony BMG, Warner Music, Twice As Nice and many others.

In 2010, MG decided to move to the UK to continue his studies at university level, going for an Information Systems in Business degree. During his studies, he was approached by one of Londons most successful promotion companies, Mace PR.

Through the successful cooperation of the two, MG performed in some of the UK’s most elite and prestigious clubs, including: Funky Buddha, Mayfair, Merah, Chinawhite, Holborn House, British Luxury Club, Dollhouse, Nuvo, Firehouse and many others. He has also hosted and DJ’d afterparties for various artists and celebrities such as: Tinchy Strider, JLS, Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, Pixie Lott, Simon Webbe, Ashley Young, Little Mix, Fazer and many others.

In January 2012, MG was asked to do a guest mix and interview on the famous BBC 1Xtra radio station, on the CJ Beatz show, which was then broadcasted online to an audience reaching the hundreds of thousands.

Whether its R&B, Hip Hop, House, Garage, Old School or any other genre, DJ MG’s passion for music and love for the art of DJ’ing, makes him a valuable asset to any club and event.
