No time? Skip the small intro, it has only been altered slightly. The first couplet could in theory be skipped as a whole, though mind the slow progression is a very definate part of the song.

Ever since I read about this competition, I've been very excited. Not only because the awards were exactly what I had yet to obtain to enhance my hobby/career, but also because, when I heard the vocals, I heard that I could make something out of it completely and extremely different than the original.
So I hit the piano and settled on a simple, yet effective and suprising chorus chord progression, and completed the arrangement with a completely different environment for it, in another scale. This is the first competition for which I am very happy to submit my work, as this is the first time I've had such amazing freedom and such usable material. Downside: when I get too excited, tunes get longer.

The 'drop' in this track is actually my third try. I started out with a repeating mid-range bass progression, accompanied by some goofy bleeps, but once I took a listen through my older brother's monitoring speakers I discovered how terrible it actually sounded. Control A, delete. Second try, a mid-range progression that somewhat took a turn with the pitch wheel. Didn't fit in with the song. Eventually I concluded that there was no popular or mainstream kind of 'drop' that would fit, so I started thinking of something completely my own. Judge the result for yourself.

I hope more artists will launch competitions, just for the sake of getting amazing vocals and/or other stems to work with. I've had great fun remixing this track, and once I finally have the money for a decent monitoring set I hope a contract to OWSLA or similar will be one step closer.

Direct inspirations for the style I tried to put down:
The M Machine, Birdy Nam Nam, Dillon Francis, Knife Party
