DJ Kobayashi musical styles varies from Swing / Rhythm and Blues / Oldies / Balkan / Gypsy and Electro Swing . His influences as a DJ started from a very young age following his dad (Reuven Erez). Today he regularly plays all over London and is a resident at Twisted Gypsy at the Magic Garden, Other residencies including - Stranger than Paradise, the Magic Theater , Passing Clouds and Balkan Beats London – a Gypsy/Balkan/Swing night that take place in different clubs around London.
In summer of 2010 supported the legendary Balkan Beat Box in Rome and Boom Pam in London.
DJ Kobayashi is also a member of Gypsy Hill.
Gypsy Hill is the latest project to come from London DJs / producers: DJ Kobayashi and Herbert Newbert. In Gypsy Hill they bring together the balls and the brass from the Balkans, surf-rock Mediterranean guitar lines, Arabic & Jewish melodies, massive bass-lines and a whole heap of electronics, scratching and beats. Starting out as a producer duo, the Gypsy Hill live band soon grew to a 7 piece beats and brass extravaganza - the band have a fast-growing reputation for their high energy shows with big screen visuals and dancers also thrown into the mix. Gypsy Hill invited fans to shake their assess up and down the country at some of the UK’s biggest summer festivals such as The Big Chill, Bestival, Lovebox Weekend, a main stage slot at Shambala Festival, BoomTown Fair and Jelly Festival.
Over the summer the band also found the time to play a number of riotous shows in Europe – taking in France, Belgium, Italy, Romania, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary (Sziget festival)
Gypsy Hill Just release a new EP (Balkan Beast) on Batov Records featuring remixes by Tigermonkey and Slamboree. They also did remixes to Balkan Beat Box and Al Jawala
