Gaetano Fabri
Impassioned jazz musician and percussionist from Brussels, DJ Gaetano Fabri popularizes gypsy music through the club scenes throughout Europe by blending clubbing culture with traditional music. Since 1991, known then under the name of dj Gaetan Decadance, Fabri was spinning on the techno house circuit of Belgium and France. But in 2000 he started his love affair with world music and began to fuse traditional music from the Tzigane or 'Gypsy' culture, Balkan brass bands of Eastern Europe, Klezzmer and Russian folk song. Fabri's remix of Siki Siki Baba by Kocani Orkestar, without a doubt the most incredible brass band Macedonian of this century, appears on the first volume of the now hugely popular Electric Gypsyland series and is a dancefloor favourite.
Matrimia!
Klezmer, Balkan, World Music and ... Sicily... an incredible melting-pot created in the middle of Mediterranean Sea (in Sicily, Italy), by a bunch of talented musicians and French singer Davy Deglave. The energy springing from the group is a cross between a stream of vulcanic lava and a colourful explosion of bright sounds. Just a spicy music to taste.
Toma Fetermix
When the week-end comes, Toma (singer and leader of the band La Caravane Passe) turns into sunday's handyman and becomes FETERMIX. He hammers the beats, cuts the samples, records few instruments (guitars, trumpet, bass...) then the tracks becomes real. When the music is settled, he affixes the voice using his "yougo style" and "slavic slam". Since more than 10 years while making tours with La Caravane Passe, this bandidos is taking some break to record this electro-ethno music. Originally, Fetermix songs were intended to the web and free downloads, but it happened that songs were starting to travel a lot and now we can hear them on the gypsy and balkan dance-flours from all over the world. Toma Fetermix' music goes from open-air café on Danube to hip-hop or manush-scat in Paris East Side. It turns into dancing trip on the roads of the europeans nomad's roots.
Finzi Mosaique Ensemble
Finzi Mosaïque Ensemble is a cosmopolite (France, Uk, Roumania, Spain, Turquie) band from Paris , which interpretes traditionnal balkan and mediterannean music in a modern way , with the flavor of gipsy, turkish and sepharadic style. A great invitation to travel !
Amsterdam Klezmer Band
Since they began in 1996, the Amsterdam Klezmer Band has developed into a renowned live band on the world, Klezmer and Balkan scenes. This septet has built up a loyal following among audiences in The Netherlands, Europe and around the world. Their strength lies in grabbing a wide variety of world, pop and jazz aficionados by the short hairs through their virtuoso live performances. It is no wonder that the press describe them as “Whipping up and moving audiences” and being “both unique and recognizable, profound and varied.” Going to one of their gigs means it’s party time: time to dance, laugh and ‘go crazy’. They are a favorite among their fellow musicians and many of their original songs have been covered and remixed by such renowned producers as their label mate Shantel. In May 2011 their “Katla” album was awarded the German Record Critics’ Prize. The members of that jury, which presents this prize to outstanding music productions, are recognized music experts who are totally independent of the industry.
VOJASA,
The new vlach gipsy music from Budapest! Vojasa, means “with joy” or Cheerful in gipsy language. Based on traditional vlach gipsy music, their urban interpretation and compositions are sprinkled by Romanian and Serbian gipsy influences without losing its very peculiar Hungarian soul. Based on vocals and rhythms Vojasa’s music is definitely sincere and authentic! Skilled musicians although autodidacts, Vojasa is: 3 powerful voices, 2 guitars, violin, mandolin, bass guitar, percussions and the traditional aluminum water can! Open your ears, bring good shoes for you will dance for sure on this exciting music!
Electric Balkan Jazz Club isa crossover band mixed balkan and orient culture , created in 2009 by Costas Simeonidis and Kostas Karagiozidis
Mec Yek
"The next time you hear a Euro-sceptic politician question just what the EU has ever done for us, point them in the direction of Mec Yek. For the European Community's value isn't merely economic; the free and frank exchange of culture has been much welcome too. Twenty years ago, Mec Yek simply wouldn't have existed - their personnel, spanning the continent's western and eastern reaches, would have been unlikely to have crossed each others' paths. Fronted by a pair of spirited Roma sisters, Mec Yek is the brainchild of Piet Maris, frontman with past WOMAD faves Jaune Toujours. His fascination with Eastern European gypsy culture has culminated in forming this tradition-savvy yet musically adventurous combo, one powered along by accordion, clarinet, double bass and drums. Along the way they've picked up an ever-increasing gaggle of admirers, including fRoots who praised the combination of "earthy traditionalism and hot jazz". Exactly the kind of mongrel sound that the isolationist politicos would hate." (Nige Tassell, Womad 09)
Figli Di Madre Ignota
Figli di Madre Ignota is a band from Milano, Italy. A bunch of people who plays an aggressive mix of balkan music, evil polkas, klezmer made out from nothing, mean swings, breathless tarantellas, all made up with surfy electric guitars and a generous horn section: in two words, SPAGHETTI BALKAN! It’s music to dance wildly, but with lot of fun! The live show is electric and hilarious, if you can imagine a Balkan brass section playing with a twangy rock combo, you’re close to the atmosphere of their show.
Dj SuperStereo
SuperStereo has started his musician career at age 10 with the love of rap music and with drumming in the outbuilding. The drumming is still big part of his life, he can play all the percussions, actually he is the drummer of the Péterfy Bori & Love Band in Hungary. To start his dj career (in 2008) he was inspired by traditional folk and gypsy music and by the impression of the country life. His specialty that he combined this traditional sounding with the modern dance music -exspecially with house elements- creating by this an especial tone in the club- life. Many foreign dj inquired about his works, inter alia: Dj Click, Shazalakazoo, Dj Gaetano Fabri, Dj Tagada etc. He made official remix for the Péterfy Bori and Love Band's song: Téged nem, furthermore the request of Dj Tagada he made a remix for Khelpie E Cheasa by Boban and Marko Markovic.
