Drawing his inspiration from the dexterous sounds of Mr. Scruff, Gilles Peterson, J-Rocc, Nu-Mark, DJ Shadow, Cut-Chemist, Jazzy Jeff, Kenny Dope and the like, Evo's library spans wide and deep. From his core knowledge and love of funk, jazz, hip-hop and reggae, Evo's known to flex with the crowd on any given night, stretching into the depths of broken-beat, boogie, disco, afro-beat, brazilian, latin, and house.

While most nightspots in Vancouver still cater to the usual mass crowds, there are few select venues where the audience is as discerning as the DJs who play the music. Adam Petipas, better known to locals as DJ Evo, is one-half of the dynamic duo responsible for holding down one of the longest running weeklies in Vancouver known as "The Payback". For 5 solid years, Evo (alongside fellow digger, and former Beatstreet Records cohort, DJ Hubbz) has been dishing out the classic funk, raregroove and soulful breaks by the bricks and pounds. A night for true music enthusiasts, it's the only weekly of its kind, boasting a visual backdrop of the moonlit coastal waters of English Bay.

Crushing dates across the nation while holding down his current residencies in Vancouver, popular demand for Evo's sound has catapulted him to the other side of the Pacific, as well as frequent visits down the West Coast. He's soon to embark on a US tour this Spring, where he'll be touching down in LA, SF, and moving across to dates in Austin and NYC.

For locals awaiting his return, he'll be back with a vengeance to take his spot in this year's 2012 Red Bull 3-Style Vancouver Finals Competition scheduled for May.
