Hi! My name is Joey Wisgirda. I also go by Big Joe Daddy. I live in the SF Bay Area, and make glitch-hop and dubstep. I play trumpet and a special wind controller ( Morrison Digital Trumpet http://www.digitaltrumpet.com.au/ ), live and in the studio,controlling Ableton, Reason, Kyma, Alchemy, and a host of other hardware and software instruments, especially physical modeling ones. It lets me, among other things, produce very realistic acoustic instrument sounds.I started out as an orchestral trumpet player, them switched to jazz, funk, and Salsa, then studied composition with John Tchicai ( Coltrane, Archie Shepp, etc. ) .... energy music! I've performed with bunches of folks ( Alton Ellis, John Tchicai, Karl Denson, Hamsa Lila, Mutaytor, Joe Craven, DJ Dragonfly, and many others .... ), and shared the stage with many more ( John Scofield, Bassnectar, Galactic, Ozomatli, Tipper, Kraddy, Beats Antique, Charlie Hunter, and many others as well ... ) Let me know if you like what I do!
I teach electronic music production at the UC Davis Experimental College in Davis CA.
I also own a sound rig, all Bag End, about 30 Kwatts and a Gamble-EX56 FOH console ( all Grateful Dead technology - Owsley even helped design the crossover ).
I'm also part of a Davis electronic music composer's group called the Chillage People : Spokenbird, Lazer Tooth, Dubzilla, Scrivvy, Oddjob, Henry Chatfield, Chester, Dissent, KOlectric, Urple Eeple, and Mia Lolita, Isotope, and Isturite !!
