Diskette Deluxe - My Amiga vol. 1 out on Bandcamp: http://diskettedeluxe.bandcamp.com
The Commodore Amiga is a personal computer from the mid 80s with sort of an 8-bit sound architecture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga_500). With my music inspired by this computer I return to the sound I have loved ever since my childhood.
I take inspiration from funky, poppy and sometimes melancholic music made on this machine, by composers like for example Martin Iveson (Jaguar XJ220 soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xdjLzovc0A), Barry Leitch (Lotus II Turbo Challenge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQSsq7HCNHw), Chris Huelsbeck (Turrican II: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fvha_2hAzq0), many tunes from cracktros (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50WWFEBsgfk), etc.
To compose I used Ableton Live and its simple sampler (Simpler), in which I loaded the Amiga Sountracker Sample Packs (archive.org/details/AmigaSoundt…kerSamplePacksst-xx). A couple of sounds come from Plogue's brilliant Chipsounds (http://www.plogue.com/products/chipsounds). I tried to minimize modern production techniques like reverbs, EQs etc., as those apparently only damage the Amiga vibes. Sometimes I wish I would have used a tracker, because they can control pitch bends and arpeggios so easily, but I love piano rolls too much.
Enjoy, stream, download. EP coming up later...
