@esquilo: he's got his own style doesnt he... the beats uploaded here have all a common feel, its the dirtykics style

Awesome blipndip-chords and beat! The lead string is too much on top perhaps? I prefer the sweeping parts... Cheers dan

    2. dirtykics on October 15, 2009 23:59

@dtunez: once im able to sit down and mix it better, things should sit right...

    3. dirtykics on October 16, 2009 00:00

@dirtykics: oh i made all of this from scratch too, the "blips" remind me of some old ass 8 bit game, lol...

nice feel.... the hats and snare could be a tad louder. the snappy snare sound is sick

    2. dirtykics on October 10, 2009 02:36

@Hurling Dervish: thanks man, that was one of the things i was considering... i actually re-did the snare 5x's, lol

I'm addicted to this shutter synth.... the warm strings and organ sounds fit very good. I'm curious, did you use samples or synths?

    2. dirtykics on October 12, 2009 16:20

@dtunez: this is i did that with my microkorg synth and the sample in the background was done in reason and then exported to my mpc and played their... the only thing i got off vinyl where the drums... the into is from the flick "phantom tollbooth"

i love it when it comes straight into the core of the beat and then the pads come again.

That rhythmic crack/beat sound is thrilling me, so well incorporated. Chilled tune mon, needs a chorus part from my perspective but mos def deep ish to bounce to

    2. dirtykics on October 14, 2009 02:28

@moon_at: i jus put a new version up but expect another one soon... im patiently working on my keyboard skills...

    3. moon_at on October 15, 2009 08:10

@dirtykics: lets not talk about Keyboard Skills, same situation over here. Guess even using the word Skill in my production is a bit misleading, lol. Its all about faking it right

    4. dirtykics on October 15, 2009 13:55

      @moon_at: lol, def man....

reminds me (oddly enough) of minimal dub techno, but with hip hop vibes

    2. dirtykics on October 10, 2009 02:38

@Hurling Dervish: actually, can u recommend some artists to me... im kinda naive to it...

    3. Hurling Dervish on October 10, 2009 04:35

@dirtykics: yea sure... theres this guy simple who does amazing stuff hes got a free EP http://www.myspace.com/isitsimple its fucking awesome and very chill

    4. dirtykics on October 10, 2009 14:45

@Hurling Dervish: good look man, there's soo many variations of that style it's hard for me to catagorize and really find some good music...

my thoughts: perhaps those drums would fit better in a more rolley joint, with some hat action and more intrincate percussion... in a stomping beat like this one, a stronger slamming thing would (perhaps) fit. just my opinion though

View all

this will be the intro to whatever i may put out soon... stilll working on it (no pun intended)....lol, sorry if the mix is a bit ruff tho...
